About that bridge.
Mrs C, we have to talk. About our future, climate change and your energy policy. It is dangerously out of touch.
I tossed and turned all last night after that debate. You both almost got away with no questions on this most important topic: the burning of fossil fuels. It came at the very end, it was clear you were hoping to run out the clock and not drop that stinky bomb that you did. That b.s. comment about the bridge, I’m so tired of it.
It is no surprise that Mr T’s rambling incoherent chatter included coal being clean. Those of us who have been fighting for clean air and water have known for many years that clean coal is a delusional fairy tale.
I would expect more from a candidate as qualified as you seem to be for the office. But due to our current situation with corporate money influencing the election process, it must be really hard to take a stand against their interests. I don’t know who is advising you on energy policy, but I can tell you they are dead wrong.
Let’s get this straight once and for all: Gas is not a bridge fuel to a clean energy future. I don’t know why the fact checkers ever question this one, they should. Any scientist will tell you that fugitive methane makes gas equivalent or worse than coal for the climate. Methane traps more than 84 times the heat of carbon dioxide. This deadly mistake, supporting gas, is pushing us closer and closer to irreversible climate chaos.
As a result of the Obama Administration’s gung ho position on fracking, communities have been destroyed by frack wells, toxic compressor stations and pipelines. While natural gas might burn cleaner than coal, it leaks bigtime. Gas is also incredibly explosive, pipelines blow up more often than you might like to think about. Folks from all sides of the political spectrum, many who never saw themselves as “environmentalists”, are fighting relentlessly to save their communities from the invasion of gas and gas infrastructure that you encouraged during your time as Secretary of State. These folks will not vote for you if you support gas as part of a “clean energy future”. They see through the deception, they will vote for a 3rd party candidate Jill Stein since Bernie Sanders is not running.
And don’t even get me started on Bernie. He wasn’t afraid to tell the truth about climate and fracking.
“We cannot allow our children to be poisoned by toxic drinking water just so a handful of fossil fuel companies can make even more in profits. There is simply no good way to contain the cocktail of toxic chemicals pumped into the ground.”- Bernie Sanders
Either you are not telling the truth about fracked gas and climate change or you are grossly misinformed. Neither one of these are acceptable positions for someone running for the highest office in the land.
Your position on gas is quickly proving to millions that voting for a lesser evil is still evil. Wake up, Mrs Clinton and smell the fugitive methane.
